Valkyrie may be a relative newcomer to the MCU, with only one Marvel movie under her belt so far, but the bounty hunter left such an impression in Thor: Ragnarok that many were disappointed by her absence in Avengers: Infinity War. Fortunately, if Chris Hemsworth’s recent Instagram activity is anything to go by, we could be seeing the return of Tessa Thompson’s character as soon as next year’s Avengers 4.
Thompson and Hemsworth have had their hands full recently working on the next Men in Black movie, but the Thor actor’s latest Instagram stories see the pair taking a break from shooting the sci-fi sequel and catching a flight to Atlanta. While Thompson’s reason for the trip has not been disclosed, Hemsworth has said that he’s needed for Avengers 4 reshoots, making it a distinct possibility that his companion’s making the journey for the same reason.
After Ragnarok left its heroic cast drifting through space with no apparent destination, the ship containing Valkyrie, Thor and the last of the Asgardians was quickly met with disaster at the start of Infinity War. The Marvel mega-hit left the fate of several key Ragnarok figures up in the air, though co-director Joe Russo has since reportedly confirmed that Thompson’s character survived the ship’s attack from Thanos and his forces.
While many of the heroes who did make the cast of Infinity War didn’t live to see the end of the movie, it looks like quite a few figures from across the MCU will be stepping into the fray for next year’s sequel, including Captain Marvel and notable Infinity War absentees Hawkeye and Ant-Man. We therefore can’t rule out Valkyrie also coming along for ride, with her Ragnarok co-star Korg, too, of course.
Either way, you can be sure that Avengers 4 is going to bring us one mammoth cast when it arrives on May 3rd, 2019.
