New Poster For Alien: Covenant Advises You To Run

The very first poster for Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant has been released tonight, featuring that dreaded Xenomorph accompanied by the apt tagline, "Run." It's a chilling, yet minimalistic look at the highly-anticipated film, one which also shows us the new release date of May 19th, 2017 - moved up from the previous August 4th, 2017 slot.

The very first poster for Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant has been released tonight, featuring that dreaded Xenomorph (though from what we can tell, it doesn’t look re-designed) accompanied by the apt tagline, “Run.” It’s a chilling, yet minimalistic look at the highly-anticipated film, one which also shows us the new release date of May 19th, 2017 – moved up from the previous August 4th, 2017 slot.

Acting as a soft reboot of Prometheus, and a much scarier outing from what we’ve heard, details on Covenant have been fairly hard to come by ever since the film started shooting. With a multitude of questions surrounding it and how it ties into the wider Alien universefans have been kept on their toes, dissecting every photo and teaser to emerge online. So far, 20th Century Fox has been holding their cards rather close to their chest, but with the first poster now out in the wild, that could all change.

The most interesting takeaway here – not that there are many, mind you – is the new release date. Moving the film up from August to May shows a huge vote of confidence on Fox’s part, not to mention that we won’t have to wait as long to see it now. Kicking off the summer with a sci-fi horror flick like this is a bit of a risky move, but the studio clearly believes in Ridley’s vision and are no doubt hopeful that it will go over a bit better than Prometheus did back when it released in 2012.

Alien: Covenant will be with us on May 19th, 2017 and stars Michael Fassbender (who will be playing two androids), Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Billy Crudup, and Amy Seimetz. Take a look at the simple, yet effective poster below and stay tuned for the first official trailer, which is surely just around the corner now.
