At long last, Lucasfilm is ready to pull the lid back on Solo: A Star Wars Story. With less than 4 months to go before the Anthology pic hits theaters, it really is strange that they’ve kept things under wraps for this long, as fans have been left without so much as even an official photo to feast on. That’ll all change tonight though, when a teaser drops during the Super Bowl, followed by the full trailer tomorrow morning.
And while we will undoubtedly get a good look at what’s in store, don’t expect all the surprises to be ruined. Case in point: for months now, it’s been rumored that Jabba the Hutt will have a role in the movie and though we don’t imagine the trailer will confirm that, some new tie-in merchandise has arrived online today which strongly hints at it.
Seen in the gallery below, we’ve got toys that show off Lando, Han, Emilia Clarke’s Qi’Ra and more, but what’s most interesting is a photo which bears a striking resemblance to Jabba’s palace on Tatooine.
Again, this isn’t the first time the character has been rumored for an appearance in the pic, and considering his history with Han, it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see him show up. Then again, from what we know so far, it doesn’t appear that a trip to Tatooine is on the cards, as apparently the only planets we’ll visit are Kessel, Mimban and Corellia. That being said, it could just be that Lucasfilm has kept this part of the Anthology movie a secret, but for now, all we can really do is speculate.
What we can tell you with absolute certainty, though, is that the spinoff orbits around a series of daring escapades “deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld. There, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.”
On paper, it certainly has all the makings of a rip-roaring adventure, but will Ron Howard and co. be able to pull through and deliver another thrilling Anthology movie? One that will satisfy viewers in the same way that Rogue One did? Well, that remains to be seen, but we’ll have a much better idea of what to expect later tonight, after we’ve finally laid eyes on Solo: A Star Wars Story.
