Mario and Luigi in Mario Bros. Movie

New ‘Super Mario Bros. Movie’ ad campaign is filled with Nintendo easter eggs

Mario and Luigi have started their own business.

The new Super Mario Bros. Movie trailer has slightly moved away from a theatrical angle and instead gone full creative mode. Rather than showing the fans more clues and details about the film’s plot, the film has decided to turn the latest trailer into a legit plumbing business, with a real website that people can visit.

SMBPlumbing is the name of Mario and Luigi’s plumbing company, where they offer their services to those who need their pipes fixed. The website also has a trailer, set in the 90s to early 2000s TV ad style. The ad managed to use the melody of the Super Mario Bros. video game theme song that we’re all familiar with as the backing track for this advertisement.

And I know what you’re thinking, “is the number real?” Yes! yes, it is! If you call the number that was placed at the end of the ad (929-55-MARIO), you will be greeted by Luigi, who would encourage the caller to text them any issue they may have. And according to Luigi, the website is still being developed. So perhaps it might get updated once the film comes out.

“Thank you for calling Super Mario Bros. It’s-a-me, Luigi. Eh, if you need service, please text us at the same number you just called — 929-55-MARIO. That’s 929-55-62746. Message us about any issues wherever you live. House, condo, mansion? I will be sure to text you back right away. Because at Super Mario Bros. Plumbing, we don’t say “let’s-a-wait.” We say “lets-a-go!” Oh, and uh, check our website — SMBPlumbing.com. We’re still working on it. So, more updates to come. Bye-bye!”

Unfortunately, it seems like Mario and Luigi are terrible at their jobs. Because if you look at their testimonials, 2 out of 3 comments were filled with hate, although one of them was from their former boss. Meanwhile, a couple in Brooklyn complained about how the two plumber brothers made a mess in their home during a job but gave them two stars because of their dog. The only nice comment is from their mother.

This website is filled with easter eggs and encourages visitors to click and interact with everything on it. Visitors will be rewarded with easter eggs and old Nintendo references here and there if they find something. So it’s definitely worth visiting.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be released in theaters on April 7, 2023.
