New Venom Photo Shows Eddie Brock Straight Chillin

Just when you thought they'd stopped hiding Venom from us, here's a still of Eddie Brock straight up chillin. In what bares a striking resemblance to Todd McFarlane's approach to the new Spawn reboot, we've seen very little of the symbiote himself in the trailers so far. In what bares a striking resemblance to Todd McFarlane’s approach to the new Spawn reboot, we’ve seen very little of the symbiote himself in the trailers so far. Sony kept Venom from us completely in the first preview, much to the chagrin of comic book fans everywhere and instead we got a whole lot of Tom Hardy, suggesting the movie should be titled Brock

Thankfully, though, they went some way to make up for that in the latest trailer (see above), which featured a full, up close and personal shot of the lethal protector, spittle an’ all. But other than that and since then…nada. And just to prove it, here’s that pic we mentioned, which comes straight from Empire:

From the footage we’ve seen so far, we know that Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock will be fleeing from pursuers on a motorbike at some point, so no doubt we can tie this scene in, but come on…just show us a bit more of the titular symbiote already. Whether this approach of less is more will whet fans’ appetites to book tickets to see the anti-hero on the big screen still remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure – just like the alien himself, we’re all salivating at the prospect.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer of Zombieland and Gangster Squad fame, and written by Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinkner and Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy will be wrangling one of the most beloved anti-heroes in all of comics when Venom slithers into theaters on October 5th.
