Echoing his director’s comments claiming the first teaser trailer would be ready imminently, Logan himself, Hugh Jackman, has asked fans to expect something from The Wolverine 3 in “the next week or so” all the while teasing a “very different” tone ahead of the 2017 threequel.
It’ll mark Jackman’s final outing as the enraged Mutant, tapping into the beloved Old Man Logan story arc to close the book on the Aussie’s decorated tenure with those adamantium claws. Such a bittersweet send-off will naturally evoke mixed emotions from fans who have followed Wolverine’s story for more than a decade, but the character is certainly in good hands, as director James Mangold is the best candidate to tackle the finale, after directing Hugh Jackman in the well-received reboot three years ago.
Currently knee-deep in the editing process, Entertainment Tonight brings word that there is finally light at the end of the tunnel for Mangold and his team of editors, after Jackman revealed to the outlet that an announcement – whatever it may be – is right around the corner. There’s also mention of that jet-black tone.
“I just meet with [director] James Mangold today, he’s busy editing. There’s going to be some stuff coming out in the next week or so, that’s all I’ll say. Basically, it’s going to be very different. Very different in tone, and hopefully different to anything we’ve done before.”
Bouncing off his cameo appearance in this year’s X-Men: Apocalypse, it appears that Nathaniel Essex (AKA Mr. Sinister) will indeed hold a role in The Wolverine 3. 20th Century Fox is keeping things under lock and key at the time of writing, but all signs point to Richard E. Grant assuming the role of the nefarious genetic scientist.
The Wolverine 3 is earmarked for launch on March 3, 2017. That trailer reveal appears to be imminent, so stay tuned.
