Not even the brand-new Zachary Levi/Dwayne Johnson drama is enough to save DC fans from terminal boredom

The DCU has become one big reality TV show.

The DC Universe has more drama than the Real Housewives, but for fans patiently waiting for their favorite comics to receive worthwhile adaptations, all this smoke and mirrors is starting to become boring. After Shazam! Fury of the Gods failed to perform at the box office, star Zachary Levi is switching promo strategies and going after The Rock instead. While, of course, the whole debacle got people talking, most are just fed up with the behind-the-scenes tension, especially when the results have been so obviously mediocre.

Levi seemingly took a jab at Dwayne Johnson on Tuesday by sharing a report that claimed the latter blocked a cameo from the former in his star-vehicle movie Black Adam and kept characters from that same movie from showing up in Fury of the Gods. In the DC world, Shazam and Black Adam are famous adversaries, but Johnson was only ever interested in a face-off against Henry Cavill’s Superman.

All of this could be somewhat interesting if it wasn’t for the fact that both Black Adam and Fury of the Gods have been major disappointments for fans of the DC franchise, who are now aptly calling Levi and Johnson’s back-and-forth a “mid-off.”

After having to give up what was once a promising vision from beloved director Zack Snyder, and now walking on a tightrope to see what exactly James Gunn will do with the franchise, DC fans are close to burn-out.

There are still three films from the pre-Gunn era scheduled for release in the next few months. The Flash and Blue Beetle in the summer, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom at Christmas. For the sake of DC Fans’ sanity, we certainly hope they don’t follow the downward trajectory of the franchise’s latest projects.
