Actress Olivia Wilde has announced that she will not play Lara Croft in the reboot of the 2000’s Tomb Raider, which originally starred Angelina Jolie. Wilde addressed the question via her Twitter, posting a tweet saying:

“Hey internet, I’m not the new Lara Croft. But I’ve seen about 23 drag queen impersonators tonight in new york so all is well!”

Whether Wilde was never approached about the project, or if the deal feel through is unknown, but for fans of the series, and the original Playstation games, this news comes as a disappointment. Wilde obviously bares a close resemblance to Jolie and the character of Croft, so it is highly possibly that this rumour was just wishful thinking.

So for now, it looks like the role is still up for grabs. When we hear more news though we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
