Olivia Wilde Responds To Recent Captain Marvel Fan Casting

Based on comments from Kevin Feige not too long ago, we won't find out who's playing Captain Marvel until next year. That's hardly a surprise when the character's movie is still a few years away, but as one of the few key players to have not yet been cast for Phase 3, anticipation to find out who will suit up for the role is at an all-time high.

Many actresses have put their name forward to play Captain Marvel, with Olivia Wilde (TRON: Legacy) being one of the most recent to do so. In the interview above – and you have to believe that Marvel is happy to be getting this kind of mainstream media attention for the fairly obscure character so soon – Wilde was asked whether or not there’s any truth to the rumours which have surfaced that she’s now being considered for Captain Marvel.

Here’s what she said:

“It’s amazing. That’s the thing about the interweb isn’t it? People can come up with ideas and suggest them and then it becomes a snowball. I was thrilled. I think that would be amazing but I had nothing to do with it.”

Asked specifically if anyone has called, she definitively stated: “No.”

That puts an end to that then, but it would be very surprising if Marvel isn’t at least considering the actress for Captain Marvel. There are a long list of names who fans would like to see in the movie, and with the studio’s very unique casting history (who would have ever imagined Chris Pratt being such an amazing Star-Lord?), chances are they could shock us all.
