Already set to star Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Melissa Leo, Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners now has another cast member attached, Paul Dano.
Most recently seen in the sci-fi hit Looper, Dano will co-star in the film which follows a “small-town carpenter named Keller (Jackman) whose young daughter and best friend are kidnapped. After the cops fail to find them, Keller takes the law into his own hands, but in the process runs up against the big city detective (Gyllenhaal) assigned to the case.”
As for Dano’s role, it’s unspecified at this point but it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to see him as the kidnapper. Again though, we have no confirmation on who he’ll be playing just yet.
Set for a Fall 2013 release, Prisoners is shaping up to be quite promising. Villeneuve’s last film, Incendies, was a winner in my books and I’ve been looking forward to this film since its announcement.
Dano is a talented young actor and the cast he joins is already rather impressive. With Villeneuve behind the camera, and a plot that sounds interesting, this is definitely one film to keep an eye on.
What do you think? Looking forward to Prisoners? Are you happy with Paul Dano joining the cast?
