Deadline is reporting that Paul Dano has joined the cast of Steve McQueen‘s 12 Years A Slave, which is adapted from Solomon Northup’s novel. The film, which is set to begin filming this Summer, stars Chiwetel Ejiofor alongside Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt.
12 Years A Slave follows “a free black man named Northup. Though he is promised a job playing violin in the circus, he ends up being drugged and dragged to Louisiana only to be sold into slavery.” Dano will be playing one of the slave owners that exploits and tortures Northup.
The film seems more similar to McQueen’s first film Hunger than it does to his 2011 film Shame, though both are excellent movies. 12 Years A Slave has an interesting story and with McQueen at the helm and names like Fassbender and Pitt headlining, this could easily be an Oscar caliber film.
12 Years A Slave stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt and Paul Dano, and will be released in 2013.
