Peter Dinklage Joins X-Men: Days Of Future Past

Announced today was the addition of Peter Dinklage to the cast of Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past. For those who watch Game of Thrones, you should be very familiar with the Golden Globe winner, who plays Tyrion Lannister in HBO's hit show. Although his role is unspecified, we do know that he'll be taking on the part of the "main antagonist," though who exactly his character will be is still unknown.

Announced today was the addition of Peter Dinklage to the cast of Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. For those who watch Game of Thrones, you should be very familiar with the Golden Globe winner, who plays Tyrion Lannister on HBO’s hit show.

As of now, Dinklage’s role in the upcoming film is unspecified, but we do know that he’ll be taking on the part of the “main antagonist.” As for who that antagonist will be, well, let the speculation begin.

Still, this is very exciting news as Dinklage is the first new cast member to join the film. Up until now, the cast was made up of actors who have already appeared in the series. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult will all return from X-Men: First Class and Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore will all reprise their roles from the original X-Men trilogy.

That’s a wildly impressive cast and adding Dinklage to the bunch just makes things even more exciting. Though he’s not exactly an A-list celebrity just yet, Dinklage has done some excellent work in his career, most notably on Game of Thrones. He’s hands down the star of the show and he absolutely kills it as Tyrion. He steals every scene he’s in and he’s my favourite character by a longshot.

Back to X-Men: Days of Future Past though, all things considered, I think the film is shaping up real well. I still wish Matthew Vaughn was back to direct but Singer should be able to handle the job.

For those unfamiliar with the plot, check out the summary below.

The storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight Mystique’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men’s failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps. The present-day X-Men are forewarned of the possible future by a future version of their teammate Kitty Pryde, whose mind traveled back in time and possessed her younger self to warn the X-Men.

X-Men: Days of Future Past heads into production this Spring for release on July 18th, 2014. Tell us, are you excited about Peter Dinklage joining the cast? Let us know in the comments below.
