Petition to have ‘The Flash’ star return in James Gunn’s DCU racks up a colossal 16 signatures in 4 days

Trying to replace Amber Head as Mera, this is not.

It would be fair to say that The Flash doesn’t have many redeeming features on either a narrative or commercial level given its status as a jumbled multiversal mess destined to go down as one of the biggest box office bombs of all-time, but Sasha Calle‘s Supergirl is definitely one of them.

In her first-ever role in a major feature film, the actress came perilously close to stealing the show as Superman’s Kryptonian cousin, and it was a real shame she didn’t get anywhere near as much screentime as the multitude of trailers and TV spots would have you believe.

If there’s any justice in the world – which is by no means guaranteed when it comes to the regularly-shambolic DCU – then Calle will be brought back into the fold to headline James Gunn’s in-development Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, although it’s by no means set in stone, or even under consideration.

Sadly, a petition quite literally called “Have Sasha Calle star as Supergirl in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” has fallen on completely deaf ears after gaining just 16 signatures since going live on Change.org on July 3. While it’s easy to say that the site is inundated with so many additions it may have just fallen through the cracks, it was also shared on the official DC Cinematic subreddit, which boasts over 390,000 members, almost none of whom have bothered to show support.

Calling for Amber Heard to be removed from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom this is not, but Calle more than deserves a shot at joining several major players in being drafted over from the old DCEU into Gunn’s reboot.
