Very little is known about Sony’s animated Spider-Man movie, and while rumours point to it revolving around Miles Morales, that’s far from confirmed at this stage. What we do know is that first time director Bob Persichetti will be at the helm, while The LEGO Movie co-director Phil Lord penned the screenplay.
He’ll produce alongside partner Chris Miller, and in a recent interview to promote their new FOX series Son of Zorn, the duo had this to say about what we should expect.
“It is not going to feel like every other Spider-Man movie you’ve seen. It will stand on its own as a unique film-going experience. It’s wonderful and the people that are working on it are geniuses. It is unique. People will love it.”
It remains to be seen what the directors mean when they describe this animated Spider-Man movie as “unique,” but with so many different versions of Spider-Man out there, there are countless directions the movie could go in. The same applies for the sort of animation it might end up using, and it’s certainly possibly that this will be a lot more stylized than other movies in the genre.
With release set for December 21st, 2018, it could be some time before we hear any concrete details on this one, but it will definitely be interesting to see how Spider-Man ends up coming together.
