Just the other day it was announced that Steven Spielberg had added Jared Harris to the cast of Lincoln (in the role of Ulysses S. Grant), which is currently shooting in Virginia. Now we have more updates from the film, coming in the form of our first look at Daniel Day-Lewis himself donning the “Lincoln look.”

The photo was taken in a restaurant, so unfortunately we are minus a costume. Besides the fact that seeing somebody who is the spitting image of Abraham Lincoln in jeans is quite strange, Day-Lewis looks pretty good here, almost like an exact replica of the U.S. president. Reports from the production say he is as methodical as always, which I don’t doubt.

Variety’s Jeff Sneider has revealed that Day-Lewis “hasn’t broken his Lincoln accent since March” and his “real name doesn’t even appear on the call sheet.” Day-Lewis is known for being probably the most “method” actor ever, so it’s no surprise that he’s up to his usual antics on the set of Lincoln.

Lincoln stars Daniel Day-Lewis,  Tommy Lee Jones, Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lee Pace, Jackie Earle Haley, David Strathairn, John Hawkes, James Spader, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jared Haris, Hal Holbrook, Tim Blake Nelson, Walton Goggins, Joseph Cross and Bruce McGill and is eyeing a December 2012 release.
