Today we have some fantastic new photos for two of 2012’s most anticipated films, which are both based on wonderful novels. First up is two news photos from John Hillcoat‘s Lawless, which will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival later the month. The second is a gorgeous close up of Keira Knightley in Joe Wright‘s Anna Karenina.
First up is Lawless, which delivers two new photos, one of Tom Hardy and Jessica Chastain, which can be seen above, and one of Shia LaBeouf. The film features a fantastic cast and a talented director in John Hillcoat, who impressed me with both The Proposition and The Road.
The novel that the film is based on is quite gritty and it seems like something that’s right up the director’s alley. From the first trailer and all the images that we’ve seen, I think we’re in for a real treat.
As for Anna Karenina, it’s one of the world’s most loved novels and this will be the 25th adaptation of the classic story. Joe Wright is at the helm and the film will mark his return to period dramas, after his last two films The Soloist and Hanna took the director into modern-day film territory. The film also features a fantastic cast and though it is only May, many people are already calling Keira Knightly a Best Actress contender at next year’s Oscars.
Lawless stars Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska and Jason Clarke and will be released on August 31st, 2012.
Anna Karenina stars Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Aaron Johnson, Matthew Macfayden, Ruth Wilson, Olivia Williams and Domnhall Gleeson, and will be released on June 9th, 2o12.
