Super Bowl XLV isn’t until the 6th February and yet the arsenal of movies that will get previews this year during the ad breaks has been made known. This year it cost a massive $3 million in order to secure a 30 second ad slot. Paramount have 5 movies being advertised which include: Captain America: First Avenger, Rango, Super 8, Thor and Transformers: The Dark of the Moon. Disney will be showcasing Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides with DreamWorks promoting Cowboys & Aliens with a Kung Fu Panda 2 spot showcasing just before the game.
Sony have put up ads which will go out before the game, the movies which will be advertised include: Battle: Los Angeles, Priest and Just Go With It. With Focus Features lining up an early look at Kevin Macdonald’s Roman centurion movie The Eagle.
The $3 million fee is up from last year so many distributors have chosen to leave some of their ads out until the episode of Glee which airs after the game, where the Justin Bieber documentary Never Say Never will get an ad spot.
The Hollywood Reporter article also reports that Warner Bros and 20th Century Fox will ‘sit this year out’ which is surprising considering Warner Bros have the final Harry Potter movie on the horizon.
