The poster, which has been brought to us via First Showing, features Bilbo Baggins front and center with his Elf blade Sting at the ready. Granted, it’s not much to look at, but I’m glad to see each and every piece of marketing being released for the highly-anticipated films.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey remains my most anticipated film for the remainder of 2012. I’ve even gone back and started to re-read the book as it’s been a few years since I’ve done so.

I have no doubt Peter Jackson will do a great job in bringing the book to life, though I do have one reservation. As someone who disagrees with the whole 3D fad, I’m concerned that it will ruin the theatrical experience of the film as it’s done for so many others. Still though, I’m curious to see if Jackson can find a use for it or not.

One thing’s for sure, the recent trailer made the film even more enticing than before. Luckily, we’re less than three months away from its release, though as I’ve mentioned before, the time will not pass quickly.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits theaters on December 14th.
