Here’s the first poster for Moneyball, which as you can tell from the giant bold letters, stars Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Also, the film is about baseball, in case you didn’t catch on.

While the poster doesn’t reveal much else, aside from the cryptic tagline, we can assure you that it’s about the true story of Billy Beane (Pitt), who made the Oakland Athletics a force to be reckoned with in Major League Baseball in 2002.

The film is a comedic drama, which is perfect for actors like Pitt, Hill, and Hoffman, each of which has excelled at comedy and drama in their own ways. Other notable cast members include Robin Wright and Chris Pratt of Parks and Recreation. Most importantly however is the script, which is coming to us from the brilliant mind of Aaron Sorkin.

I’m really hoping this film turns out well, mostly because I love Chris Pratt. The poster makes it seem a little bit more like a drama than comedy but that’s perfectly fine with me. With the talent involved, it would be hard to go wrong with this one. Oscar buzz already surrounds the film and I’m sure we’ll see it receiving a few nominations when awards season rolls around.

Moneyball is set to release on September 23rd, 2011 and is based on the book of the same name by author Michael M. Lewis.
