The first teaser poster for Rian Johnson’s Looper has been released. Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis, this time travel thriller follows a an assassin (Gordon-Levitt) that is assigned a very special objective, to kill his future self (Willis).
The poster shows Gordon-Levitt and Willis mirrored against one another, seemingly disintegrating into time. It’s simple, yet effective, and is sure to rack up excitement for the trailer’s release this coming Thursday, April 12th.
The makeup job on Gordon-Levitt is a bit distracting but that aside, the film looks great. Early buzz is positive and based on Johnson’s previous credits, I’m expecting an innovative and exciting sci-fi thriller that will be a fun escape from the usual Oscar bait films that we see in the Fall.
Looper also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels and it will open on September 28th.
In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.
