“So with Prometheus 2 what I’m trying to do is reintroduce a fresher form of alien in the third act,” said Scott. Seems like he’s keen to break away from the shackles of the Alien franchise proper and turn Prometheus into a stand-alone series, doesn’t it?
It’s an understandable move – but does beg the question, why was the hybrid Alien-thing at the end of Prometheus even introduced? Many believe it to be an ancestor of the final xenomorph that shows up in the original Alien. This would lead in nicely to a statement Scott made eons ago about the third entry finally syncing up with his 1979 classic.
Whatever Scott chooses to embrace, it’ll no doubt stir up a lot of debate. Just like the first film did.
