Say what you want about Prometheus. Go ahead, I’ll give you a minute. I know it’s a bit of a controversial film. When you’re done though, come back to reading this article because we have some very exciting news concerning Ridley Scott’s hotly debated movie.
Though it caused a bit of a stir when it was released last year, with some hating it and some loving it, Prometheus will be receiving a sequel in the form of Prometheus 2, or at least that’s what it’s being called right now.
Details on the film are still pretty slim but today, while doing the press rounds for Dead Man Down, Noomi Rapace spoke briefly on the sequel and where they are at with it.
“They’re working on the script. I met Ridley in London a couple of weeks ago. I would love to work with him again and I know that he would like to do another one. It’s just like we need to find the right story. I hope we will. I love working with Ridley. It was pure joy,” she said. “It was really hard work sometimes. My body was a complete mess – I had bruises and cuts and emotionally I was a bit slammed. But being in his world and his universe was such an amazing experience. And it’s interesting because people, most people I’ve talked to who see the movie, see things that are quite different. Some people who see the movie many times and discover new things. There are all these religious aspects and there are very interesting conversations,” Rapace explained. “And for me, if we do a second one, there are a lot of things to explore in there and to continue.” She added: ” I would love to do it.”
So there you have it, the script is being worked on. Of course, it’s unknown who the writer on the film will be since Damon Lindelof won’t be returning. But rest assured that the studio has likely hired a talented scribe to make sense of all the riddles and questions posed in the first film. Or at least we hope.
Personally, I’m very excited for Prometheus 2. Despite it’s plot holes and whatnot, I loved Prometheus and I’m also a big fan of Ridley Scott. I think he got a lot of things right with Prometheus and it was easily one of my favourite films of 2012.
There are so many things that they can do with the sequel and though I’m not expecting it to answer everything, if they can expand the universe they already have in place, and build upon the various theories and ideas presented in the first film, then we could be in for something really special.
What do you guys think? Looking forward to Prometheus 2? Let us know in the comments below.
