JoBlo is reporting that actor Ben Foster has joined Prometheus in an unspecified role. He’ll join a cast that is already looking rather impressive with names like Noomi RapaceCharlize TheronIdris ElbaLogan Marshall-Green and Michael Fassbender.

With films like The Messenger and 3:10 To Yuma on his resume, Foster is a dependable and strong actor who always manages to bring something to the table. I thought he was fantastic in the two films I mentioned above and I’ve also been impressed with his work in other films like Alpha Dog and Bang Bang You’re Dead. He’ll make a great addition to Prometheus and I’m interested to see what kind of role he’ll end up with.

In other Prometheus news, a leaked plot summary hit the internet yesterday but today Fox released an official one. It’s rather vague and not terribly detailed but check it out below and see what you make of it.

Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.

Prometheus will hit theatres on June 8, 2012.
