Yahoo Movies has released a new promo image of Tom Cruise in the upcoming Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. The fourth film in the spy/action series is directed by Brad Bird, with Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Jeremy Renner and Tom Wilkinson starring alongside the returning hero Tom Cruise.

It’s been about 5 years since the last Mission: Impossible flick and I can honestly say that I am ready for another. J.J. Abrams showed that there is still life left in the series when he directed the third film and Tom Cruise is in desperate need of a big hit since his last few films didn’t really connect at the box office. Knight and Day was actually considered one of the biggest bombs of last summer.

I think Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol is just what Tom Cruise needs to kick start his career back up. Plus, with the addition of Jeremy Renner to the cast as well as returning stars like Simon Pegg, the film is sure to be a fun ride filled with some impressive action sequences. It will likely entertain even the most jaded of audiences.

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol opens up on December 21st, 2011. Check out the summary below.

The IMF is shut down when it’s implicated in the bombing of the Kremlin, causing Ethan Hunt and his new team to go rogue to clear their organization’s name.
