‘Quantumania’ was so unsuccessful fans are now ready for Paul Rudd to leave the MCU

Could it be time to move on?

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has been one of the most criticized MCU installments in recent memory. Despite being hyped as the big Phase Five opener, and having the biggest villain the franchise has seen since Thanos, the film fell utterly flat, to the point of leading fans to consider Paul Rudd‘s Marvel run should come to an end.

Naturally, the movie’s poor reception has little to do with Rudd’s performance, meaning that’s not the issue plaguing Ant-Man fans at the moment. No matter how much love Scott Lang gathered from audiences over the course of his appearances in the MCU, some believe it’s time for this superhero to let go of the suit, and pass the torch to a successor. On Reddit, a viewer made their opinion clear by stating that there’s little room for Lang to grow in the franchise, therefore, it’s best to give him a proper send-off during Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Avengers: Secret War.

The fan further suggests Eric O’Grady — the third Ant-Man in the comics, after Pym and Lang — should make his MCU debut soon. As stated in the original post, this is undoubtedly a hot take and others were quick to point out how Lang’s demise could get Marvel into even hotter waters. The franchise has already been struggling to get the general public on board with new characters from its comics following the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, so getting rid of Lang in favor of O’Grady might be a huge mistake.

Quantumania is finally coming to streaming in May, so home-viewers will have a chance to judge for themselves whether or not Scott Lang is past his prime.
