A Quartet Of New Clips From Predestination Challenge Space And Time

The time travel movie craze looks set to continue its reign this year. Starting things off, there's not one but two temporal dislocation movies set to hit theaters in January alone. Before the Michael Bay-produced found footage entry, Project Almanac opens on January 30th, there's another flick that's been patiently awaiting release for some time now - Predestination. Four new clips from the film have now hit the web ahead of its release next Friday and you can check them out below.

The time travel movie craze looks set to continue its reign this year. Starting things off, there’s not one but two temporal dislocation movies set to hit theaters in January alone. Before the Michael Bay-produced found footage entry, Project Almanac opens on January 30th, there’s another flick that’s been patiently awaiting release for some time now – Predestination. Four new clips from the film have now hit the web ahead of its release next Friday and you can check them out below.

Directed by Michael and Peter Spierig and starring their Daybreakers leading man Ethan Hawke, the film is loosely based on a short story by prolific sci-fi author, Robert A. Heinlein. The plot centres on Hawke’s Temporal Agent, an enforcer who is tasked with preventing crime before it happens. With retirement almost in his grasp, he embarks on a final outing to track down a killer who’s eluded him across time. For some time. If he doesn’t track down the man in question, thousands of people will be killed. It’s a little reminiscent of Minority Report in terms of the “pre-Crime” element, with a dose of Looper‘s action thrown in.

Whether or not time travel is your bag, this quartet of new previews offer a good taste of what’s to come. My particular favourite zones in on Noah Taylor, who’s always a committed performer no matter what he appears in. There’s also a decent glimpse at Hawke’s agent on the job, and leading lady Sarah Snook.

If you’re excited to catch the flick, you haven’t long to wait at all. Predestination arrives in theaters and On Demand on January 9th, 2015.

Based on the short story “All You Zombies” by Robert A. Heinlein, PREDESTINATION chronicles the life of a Temporal Agent (Ethan Hawke) sent on an intricate series of time-travel journeys designed to prevent future killers from committing their crimes. Now, on his final assignment, the Agent must stop the one criminal that has eluded him throughout time and prevent a devastating attack in which thousands of lives will be lost.
