Despite only making $100 million worldwide at the box office, many fans fell in love with 2010’s Kick-Ass. A sequel has been discussed since the first film premiered and this summer we’ll finally see Kick-Ass 2. Today, the first red band trailer for Jeff Wadlow’s film has burst its way onto the web, featuring a ton of action, some awesome fights, and hints of a significant internal struggle for the titular hero.

Chloë Grace Moretz’s Hit Girl was definitely one of the highlights of the first film, and with what’s shown in this trailer it looks like she’ll be just as awesome, if not more awesome, in the sequel. That being said, the character I’m most excited for is Jim Carrey’s Colonel Stars and Stripes.

Carrey has said that his character’s personality is so different and far away from anything we’ve seen him do that he’ll barely be recognizable. So far, that assessment is pretty spot-on, as just from listening to Colonel Stars and Stripes you’d by lying if you said you knew that was Carrey.

Another prominent plot point shown in the trailer is Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s transformation into the Motherf*cker. From there he sets out to build a whole league of super villains, putting a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad.

While some people are skeptical about this sequel, I’m definitely excited for it. The original was a ton of fun to watch and it doesn’t look like this one will be any different, despite the departure of director Matthew Vaughn.

Also starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Morris Chestnut, John Leguizamo, and Donald Faison, Kick-Ass 2 hits theaters August 16th, 2013.

Are you excited for Kick-Ass 2 or did you not want a sequel? Does this trailer make you any more excited from the film? Check it out below and then head to the comments section to share your thoughts!
