Rhys Ifans Joins Bond 23

UPDATE: MTV has confirmed that this is just a rumor.

Original Story:

As the weekend draws to a close, we get some casting news that is rather interesting. The Telegraph tells us that Rhys Ifans, who is currently hard at work on The Amazing Spider-Man, has been cast in Bond 23. Ifans will join Daniel Craig, Judi DenchJavier Bardem, Naomie Harris and Ralph Fiennes. His role is currently unknown but his involvement is confirmed.

With a fantastic cast assembled, director Sam Mendes is looking to “push the film into darker territory where the characters are modern, mature and challenging.” Bond 23 hasn’t even begun filming yet but the way it’s shaping up, this could be the best Bond yet.

Ifans is best known for his roles in Notting Hill and Enduring Love. Although not a household name just yet, after he’s done with Bond and Spidy, he’ll likely see his star rise. He’ll make a great addition to the cast of the new Bond film and I’m very excited to see what Mendes has in store for us.

I haven’t fully enjoyed a Bond film in some time now but hopefully 007’s 23rd outing will change that.
