/Film is bringing us some new details on the upcoming Blade Runner film, which, after much speculation, appears to be a sequel. While speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Scott let slip his plans for the film.

“It will likely be a sequel. I think I’m close to finding a writer that might be able to help me deliver. We’re quite a long way in, actually.”

The film is still a long ways away (with a 2014 release looking likely) so there’s still time. But as of now, it looks like Scott wants to go the sequel route, which may or may not excite some fans.

Personally, I’m fine with it. Does it need to be done? Probably not but seeing that it’s in Scott’s hands, I’m feeling fairly confident. Had it been another director at the helm I’d be worried. With Ridley Scott in charge though, I think things will turn out just fine.
