Rita Repulsa Plans Her Escape In New Power Rangers Photo

Lionsgate's Power Rangers reboot is really starting to heat up now ahead of its March 24th release next year. That's still quite a ways away, but we've already seen a healthy dose of promo material from the film, and it all looks great. That first official trailer still eludes us, but to tide us over until it eventually hits, we now have a new photo of big bad Rita Repulsa.

Lionsgate’s Power Rangers reboot is starting to really heat up now ahead of its March 24th release next year. That’s still quite a ways away, but we’ve already seen a healthy dose of promo material from the film, from stills to character posters (seen below), and it all looks great. That first official trailer still eludes us, but to tide us over until it eventually hits, we now have a new photo of big bad Rita Repulsa.

Seen above, it’s Elizabeth Banks who steps into the villainous role here, and in the new image, we see Rita behind some kind of glass enclosure. It’s hard to tell what exactly’s going on, but if there’s one thing we’re sure of, it’s that the villain won’t be trapped for long. In fact, it looks like she knows exactly how she’s getting out of there, and we can already see the cracks in the glass.

For more on what to expect from the upcoming reboot, you can consult the official plot summary below:

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

That premise alone doesn’t sound terribly exciting, but it’s no doubt just a brief overview of what’s about to go down here. After all, Bryan Cranston has likened the film to The Dark Knight, and given that both him and Banks, two highly respected talents, have signed on, we’re inclined to believe that there’s a strong script in place.

Those Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers will blast their way into theatres on March 24th, 2017.
