Rob Zombie’s Streak Of James Gunn Movies Continues With Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

It's official: Rob Zombie's streak of James Gunn movies will continue with the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on May 5th.

He’s voiced Dr. Karl (Slither) and the mighty God himself (Super), but for Guardians of the Galaxy, Rob Zombie had a minor voice role as the Ravager known as Navigator. Wary of breaking the streak, it’s been confirmed that the writer-director-musician is back in the recording booth for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Word comes by way of Instagram – and later relayed through James Gunn’s lively Twitter feed – which confirms that Zombie voices a character in Guardians 2…and little else. Naturally, Marvel red tape (read: a strict embargo) kept the creative from disclosing details of his character ahead of time. That being said, in the spacefaring original, his voice played out through the Milano, Star-Lord’s beloved space vessel, so it seems more likely that Rob Zombie will be lending his vocal chords to a new character altogether, as opposed to reprising as Navigator.

Though it’s believed to be a relatively minor role, Rob Zombie will now feature on a cast list that includes the usual suspects (see: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel) along with a handful of exciting newcomers. Above all, it is Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha and Ego, the Living Planet that will be causing all sorts of headaches for our spacefaring Guardians. The latter character is played by the great Kurt Russell and just recently, Pratt gushed about the experience of playing Russell Jr. on the silver screen.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 shoots for theaters on May 5th and is one of three Marvel tentpoles earmarked for launch in 2017, the other two being Spider-Man: Homecoming (July 7th) and Thor: Ragnarok (November 3rd), which will seemingly herald the God of Thunder’s funniest outing to date.
