Steve Rogers and Tony Stark may not always see eye to eye, but Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. have had a bromance for the ages over their time in the MCU that will continue into Avengers: Endgame. The pair have frequently complimented one another on social media and during interviews, and now, Robert Downey Jr. has posted a picture on Twitter that cements how the pair see each other.
With the caption “BFFs let you share their umbrellas, right?” he tagged Chris Evans and posted the following:
The picture is by Japanese photographer Hot Kenobi, who runs a very entertaining Instagram account in which he posts superhero action figures in various tongue-in-cheek poses, usually with a satirical tone. I’ve been a fan of his for a while, and he seems to have an endless fountain of creativity (and a very large toy collection). This picture is probably one of the neatest, too, showing Cap protecting Iron Man from a shower of sparks from above. I doubt Iron Man would really be troubled by sparks, but it’s the thought that counts.
Sadly, rumors about Avengers: Endgame suggest that it might be our last chance to see Downey Jr. and Evans on screen together as the iconic heroes. Both actors have reached the end of their contracts with Marvel Studios, and fans predict that either or both of them might bite the bullet this April. Even as things stand, the pair are separated, with Stark trapped in outer space on a dying spaceship and Rogers mourning those dusted back on Earth.
Despite this, these guys are still very much the face of the MCU and I can’t wait to see what Chris Evans tweets back in response to this image. Whatever it is should shake off some of those gloomy predictions about who won’t be making it to the end credits of Avengers:Â Endgame.
