Robert Englund And Kane Hodder To Join Forces For Jason X Photo Shoot

Despite the fact that we were granted a Freddy vs. Jason movie in 2003, we never really got what fans had been clamoring for - and that was essentially Robert Englund vs. Kane Hodder. To many, Hodder was the definitive Jason Voorhees, so that wish made sense. Regardless, the studio went in another direction and placed Ken Kirzinger under the hockey mask instead.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not here to play favorites. I’ve met both Hodder and Kirzinger, and they’re great guys. Still, none of us can help pondering “what if?” scenarios had another director been at the helm or another screenplay settled upon.

Fortunately, anybody attending Monster-Mania Con later this summer will receive what’s probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to take a photo with both Robert Englund and Kane Hodder. But if that weren’t enough, Hodder will don his costume from Jason X for the shoot! How cool is that?

Though you may have heard at some point, Hodder actually did appear in Freddy vs. Jason – but it wasn’t in an obvious way. When I spoke with him at the inaugural Astronomicon in 2018, he told me the following:

“They say I wasn’t in Freddy vs. Jason. The filmmakers didn’t even know it, but I was in that movie. There was a scene where they’re at the insane asylum or whatever, the hospital, and there’s a movie playing on a TV set – and it happens to be Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3.

And there’s a scene of Leatherface doing something, and that’s actually me as Leatherface. I was the stunt double for R.A. Mihailoff for that movie and I was stunt coordinator. And so, they’re trying not to to put me in the movie, and I was still in it and they didn’t even know it.”

If you’d like to be a part of this momentous Jason X photo op, then be sure to make your way to Monster-Mania Con in Cherry Hill, New Jersey on August 16th-18th.
