Room breakout Jacob Tremblay is the latest addition to the cast of The Predator, Shane Black’s long-in-development reboot set to enter production in Los Angeles sometime next month.

The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop, confirming that Tremblay now joins an ensemble comprised of Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Sterling K. Brown (Black Panther), Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key and Thomas Jane, who joined just recently in an undisclosed role. As for the fresh-faced Tremblay, he’ll play the son of Boyd Holbrook’s burly ex-Marine. Bullied in school due to his struggles with autism, THR’s report goes on to reveal that Tremblay’s unnamed character will be fairly instrumental in the fight against those gnarly aliens – and that’s plural – whose knack for languages is used as a means of understanding the Predator and its otherworldly origins.

Swapping the lush environment of the original cult classic for the concrete jungle of Los Angeles, Shane Black hatched the script for The Predator alongside Fred Dekker. An R rating is said to be the target, and it’ll be fascinating to see how the acclaimed screenwriter and director adopts to the horror climate following his rip-roaring work on last year’s noir caper The Nice Guys. Black is no stranger to 20th Century Fox’s ugly motherfucker – to quote Arnold Schwarzenegger’s one-liner – having appeared in the ’88 original, but will he be able to secure the Austrian Oak for a cameo? We’ll find out soon enough.

Production on The Predator will begin next month ahead of a theatrical release on February 9, 2018. As for Tremblay, he’ll soon headline Wonder for Lionsgate, before starring in Colin Trevorrow’s The Book of Henry.
