Variety is reporting that The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara will replace Carey Mulligan in Spike Jonze‘s upcoming film, which is currently untitled. The reason for Mullligan’s exit from the film is said to be due to scheduling conflicts.

No details are known about the role but we do know that the film revolves around “a man who falls in love with the voice of a computer.” It sounds odd but then again, this is the same guy who gave us Being John Malkovich.

Mara is currently filming Steven Soderbergh‘s The Bitter Pill and in September will begin filming the new Terrence Malick film alongside Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett and Haley Bennett.

The untitled Spike Jonze film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara and Samantha Morton is aiming for a 2013 release.
