Rosario Dawson may be acting as the anchor of Marvel’s universe on the small-screen, subtly tying together the likes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, but The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the so-hot-right-now actress has been tapped for Warner Bros.’ upcoming LEGO Batman spinoff.

According to the outlet, Dawson has now landed the coveted part of Batgirl, starring opposite Will Arnett, who is on board to reprise his role as the World’s Greatest Detective after last year’s box office success. Indeed, the addition of the actress is just another feather in the cap of LEGO Batman, which has now recruited Michael Cera and Birdman‘s Zach Galifianakis as Robin and the Crown Prince of Crime himself, the Joker, respectively.

As a self-confessed comic book fan herself, Dawson is no stranger to the medium of adaptations. Not only has she cemented a place in Marvel’s universe as Claire Temple – recently wrapping her shoot on Daredevil season 2 – but the actress has also dabbled with creating her own work, most notably with O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce.

In terms of the LEGO-verse, though, after serving as animation supervisor on The LEGO Movie, Chris McKay is primed to take the reins and direct WB’s Gotham-centric offshoot, working from a script by novelist-cum-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith. Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will all produce for Warner Bros. now that the trio have been instated as the shepherds guiding the studio’s LEGO franchise.

Brick by brick, Warner’s LEGO universe is beginning to take shape. With Chris McKay’s LEGO Batman pegged for February 10, 2017, it’s understood the studio will roll out the Ninjago offshoot soon thereafter, before Chris Miller and Phil Lord return to the franchise with a bona fide sequel.
