Much has been made about Superman’s role in Justice League. Given that he died at the end of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, perhaps the biggest thing people are wondering about is how exactly he’ll be resurrected. While that’s something we probably won’t find out until the film actually hits theaters, there are a few points about the character that have been heavily rumored throughout production. One of which is the fact that he’ll be donning his famous black suit at some point.
First teased by Henry Cavill last year, fans of the comics will know that the Man of Steel originally wore the costume back in “The Death of Superman.” In that arc, he was killed by Doomsday and upon his revival, he sported the black suit with a longer hairstyle. From what we’ve heard so far, it sounds like Justice League might be taking some inspiration from the famous storyline and that includes having the hero wear the alternate threads. Though again, that has in no way been confirmed just yet. In fact, not only has it not been confirmed, but all those rumors pointing towards the costume making an appearance may have just been debunked.
We advise taking this with a grain of salt, as the intel hails from Reddit, but there’s reason to believe it may be accurate. In other words, hear us out before dismissing this as just another baseless report from the social media site – which, admittedly, is turning into a hotspot for people to dump their fan fiction on.
According to one user who claims he worked on the film’s VFX, not only will Supes not be sporting a beard (as previously rumored), but there’s also no black suit to be found in Justice League. Now, why should we believe this person? Well, here’s where it gets interesting.
For one, his info is incredibly detailed and certainly sounds like it’s coming from someone in the industry. But of course, that’s easy enough to fake. What’s most intriguing here is that if you follow the Reddit thread, the user refuses to reveal which company he works for, and understandably so. However, one of the commenters seemingly figures it out and shortly after that, the original poster deletes his Reddit account. Why’s that significant? Well, because his username was what gave away the company that he works for.
We know, it’s a lot of speculation and far from concrete, but in a subreddit full of BS and fanfic, from time to time a legitimate report does emerge and this might just be one of them. One way or another, we’ll find out soon enough, as Justice League swoops into theatres on November 17th.
