The Marvel-related rumors just keep coming. Yesterday, a batch of news hit the web concerning the fate of a major character in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, as well as listing a potential brigade of characters expected to appear in Captain America: Civil War.
Throw into the mix talk from director Joss Whedon teasing even MORE Avengers for the sequel and it appears as though the blockbuster intends to pack every frame of its running time with a revolving door of characters old and new.
Now, we know a little bit more about who exactly will form the “new” Avengers team by the end of the film. If you wish to head into Age of Ultron not knowing anything though, we suggest clicking back now. If, however, you’d like to know who the new line up will consist of, continue reading below the gallery.
In light of yet another scoop from Superhero News, who claims to have insider knowledge of the movie, the new Avengers roster set to be unveiled at the end of Ultron is as follows: The Falcon, Scarlet Witch, The Vision, and War Machine, led by Captain America and Black Widow.
As we tend to state with reference to all unverified reports – this is only a rumor – and therefore a perfect jumping off point for discussion, just don’t treat it as gospel.
One thing that is confirmed, by Marvel’s Kevin Feige no less, is the simple fact that the Avengers line-up in the cinematic universe will be altered by the end of the sequel. Until today, the identities of those specific characters were unknown (and technically still are), but we do know that a new era of Avengers will be ushered in by the time Ultron draws to a close.
Here’s what Feige told Buzzfeed in October 2014:
“The Avengers films, ideally, in the grand plan are always big, giant linchpins. It’s like as it was in publishing, when each of the characters would go on their own adventures and then occasionally team up for a big, 12-issue mega-event. Then they would go back into their own comics, and be changed from whatever that event was. I envision the same thing occurring after this movie, because the [Avengers] roster is altered by the finale of this film.”
The report then addresses yesterday’s bombshell; the supposed roster of faces set to reappear in Civil War. That original spot of speculation hinted that Hulk, Thor, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Wasp, and Spider-Man were all in line for the third Cap outing. However, the bulk of that report has been debunked on social media by prominent tipsters El Mayimbe (of Latino Review) and Devin Faraci (of Badass Digest).
So, it’s no surprise that following their list of new Avengers, Superhero News states, “Whether or not all of these characters will appear in the forthcoming Captain America: Civil War is unsure at this time.”
One additional point referenced is the death of Quicksilver, which the site confirms is true and happens while he is protecting an Avenger. Whether or not we’ll only be granted one movie featuring Marvel’s new character is an issue that won’t rest until May. But it strikes us as highly unlikely. Especially when a number of reputable outlets have since commented that his demise appeared in early versions of the script – which leaked – and therefore is no longer the case.
Tell us, what do you make of this supposed new line-up destined to appear in Avengers: Age Of Ultron? Does it make sense? Or is it unlikely in your opinion?
