Like most DC Extended Universe films, The Flash hasn’t exactly had the easiest time getting off the ground. While the television version of the character, currently seen on The CW, has found huge success, the big screen outing hasn’t quite come together just yet. After losing two directors in Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa, the script is now being re-written from scratch and it appears as if the project is a long ways away from getting in front of cameras. Or is it?
Despite previous reports which told us that Warner Bros. was in no rush to find someone to helm the solo outing for the Fastest Man Alive, some new leaks from Reddit point to that not being the case. Of course, with all information that comes from Reddit, we advise taking this with a pinch of salt, but according to the leak, the studio is now in talks with Jonathan Levine to direct The Flash.
If that name sounds familiar, it’s because he was said to be under consideration for Suicide Squad 2 at one point. Though with that project now zeroing in on Jaume Collet-Serra and Ruben Fleischer, it appears as if Warner Bros. has shifted Levine over to Barry Allen’s standalone film.
Though not a household name by any means, Levine’s done some terrific work in the past, with highlights on his resume being 50/50 and Warm Bodies. As a director who can balance humor and heart with ease, he seems like a much better fit for something like The Flash than Suicide Squad 2 and would definitely be able to do a good job with a character such as the Scarlet Speedster. Then again, everyone thought the same about the previous two directors, and they both ended up departing, so who knows?
For now, we’ll just have to wait for Warner Bros. to make the announcement, but until that time, tell us, who would you like to see get behind the camera for The Flash? Sound off in the usual place and let us know!
