In the last few months especially, we’ve been hearing a lot of chatter about a possible Obi-Wan film and now, Omega Underground claims that it’s indeed happening and it’s already brewing in development. According to them, Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail is in talks with Disney to pen the script and meetings are currently underway between the two parties. Of course, there’s been no confirmation from either the filmmaker or the studio on this just yet, but as the evidence continues to mount, we feel more and more inclined to believe that this Obi-Wan spinoff is about to become a reality.

We already know that Ewan McGregor is up for reprising the role, and the fan support is definitely there, so it really just seems like a matter of time before it happens. Whether Esmail ends up getting behind the camera as well (assuming he really is writing it) is unknown, but given that he’s directed quite a few episodes of Mr. Robot, we wouldn’t rule it out. Either way, his involvement bodes very, very well for the project, as the aforementioned show is one of the best things on television at the moment.

As always, we’ll continue to keep you updated if any further information arises, but for now, tell us, would you like to see Sam Esmail put together an Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff? Sound off in the usual place and give us your thoughts!
