Still with us? Ok, good. Because here it is….

According to the report, Peter Quill aka Star-Lord’s father is none other than Captain Marvel! And no, we’re not referring to the Carol Danvers version of the character. We’re talking about the Silver Age Captain Marvel aka Mar-Vell.

As Heroic Hollywood’s El Mayimbe explains, this version is the original one, and was a Kree super-soldier sent to investigate Earth’s missile programs and evaluate it as a threat to the Kree empire. You can read more about the character on his Wikipedia page, and we suggest that you do, as El Mayimbe claims that Mar-Vell is a key player in the studio’s larger cosmic plans and will show up before Captain Marvel’s solo film.

The video above goes into a lot more detail, and while most of it is just speculation, it’s certainly some interesting food for thought. Of course, none of it has been confirmed by the studio, but with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. currently eyeing a May 5th, 2017 release date, hopefully we’ll hear some more information on this hot new rumor soon.
