Ryan Gosling, Garrett Hedlund & Shailene Woodley All Passed On Fifty Shades Of Grey

Now that the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey film has been cast, it’s time to reflect on who else was being courted for the lead roles. Right now we have Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson locked in but at one point, Ryan Gosling was wanted for the lead male role. He wasn’t the only one either. Garret Hedlund also flirted with the project but couldn’t “connect with the character.”

On the female side, Felicity Jones was in the mix at one point as was Shailene Woodley, who ended up being too busy with Divergent to take on the part. In consideration as well were Alicia Vikander, Imogen Poots and Elizabeth Olsen.

There’s no telling how the Fifty Shades of Grey film will turn out but if it indeed does become a hit, Hunnam and Johnson’s careers will skyrocket. Of course, there’s also the huge possibility that the film will absolutely tank. If that happens, it could destroy the reputation of both performers, which would be a shame as both Hunnam and Johnson are slowly but surely making their way up to the A-list in Hollywood.

Personally, I don’t think that the film will turn out to be of much quality but I’m sure that it will at least make a respectable amount of money at the box office, given its huge fanbase. And at this point, that’s probably all that the producers really care about.
