Samuel L. Jackson Says He Wants To Play Mace Windu In Star Wars One More Time

Once again, Samuel L. Jackson has voiced his desire to play Mace Windu one more time in the Star Wars franchise. But will he get the chance to?

Mace-Windu

There’s been a lot of talk lately of all the different Star Wars spinoff shows that Lucasfilm might be developing for Disney Plus. But while the market for solo outings is already looking pretty jam-packed, we don’t imagine fans would object to Disney giving the green light to a Mace Windu series, and as it turns out, Samuel L. Jackson is totally down to return to reprise the role.

The subject has come up on a few occasions now and most recently, he was asked about it again while promoting his new film Shaft. And just like in the past, SLJ once again confirmed that he’d love to return to that galaxy far, far away if he was ever given the chance to do so.

“I would really love to get one more run at Mace Windu in Star Wars.”

While it’s nice to hear that Jackson’s on board with this idea, could it actually happen one day? Well, Star Wars is no stranger to bringing back supposedly dead characters if there’s fan demand. I mean, just look at Boba Fett for example, who seemingly met his demise in the Sarlacc Pit in Return of the Jedi, only to be alive and well again in various Expanded Universe stories.

Jackson himself actually believes that Mace might still be alive, too, explaining the following back at the Star Wars Celebration 40th anniversary panel a few years ago:

“I know you’re all in my corner on this. We all know Jedi can fall from incredible heights and survive, so apparently, I am not dead. Yes, I have two appendages right now, but we know the long and rich history of Star Wars characters reappearing with new appendages and being stronger and better than they ever were. Mace Windu is awaiting his return, let’s make it happen!”

All that being said, we wouldn’t hold our breath waiting for Samuel L. Jackson to return to Star Wars, but we also wouldn’t say it’s totally off the table. After all, with Lucasfilm’s post-The Rise of Skywalker plans still a bit unclear, the franchise’s future remains hazy and up in the air. If they do indeed decide to revisit any past characters though at some point, Mace Windu would certainly be a good choice.
