Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series is still trucking on, and just kicked off its fourth season last week – but when it comes to the former government agency’s presence in the movie universe, we haven’t seen them in action since Steve Rogers decreed that they were to be taken down along with HYDRA towards the climax of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Of course, Nick Fury has dropped in to offer Earth’s Mightiest Heroes some guidance since then, but what are the chances of the former director breaking out the leather jacket and side-pistol and leading his former comrades into battle again? According to Samuel L. Jackson, the chances are very good.

During a recent interview with Coming Soon, the always forthcoming actor was asked if he thought there was still a place for S.H.I.E.L.D. within the MCU, and responded very positively:

Yeah! For sure, definitely. Why wouldn’t there be? There’s some way of fixing what they created, and hopefully somebody has that going on or Nick Fury is out there — wherever he is, probably hanging out with Jules and walking the world — figuring out what happened and how it got to that particular place. Maybe they’ll find out that all that was part of a ruse to get to something else also. That would be great. They’ll bring me back somehow, some way, for some reason. I mean, they didn’t have me around to referee the kids when they didn’t go to their rooms and got in this big old fight. We’ll see what happens.

Jackson doesn’t get into specifics here, but one would assume Fury, at least, will make appearance in Avengers: Infinity War, if not before then in some capacity.

If you want a S.H.I.E.L.D. fix in the meantime, be sure to tune in to ABC later tonight to see the small screen incarnation of the team do their thing on an all new episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
