Samuel L. Jackson’s Latest Captain Marvel Hoodie Hints At A Surprising Cameo

Samuel L. Jackson has shared another hoodie from the set of Captain Marvel, and this one appears to hint at the introduction of Chewie. No, not that one.

At this stage in the game, it’s almost a foregone conclusion that Captain Marvel will primarily take place in outer space, as Brie Larson’s superpowered heroine finds herself in the company of the Kree, the Skrulls and Jude Law’s Mar-Vell.

In doing so, directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will expand the MCU’s horizons into the dark recesses of Marvel’s cosmic universe – more so than even Guardians of the Galaxy – and if Samuel L. Jackson’s wardrobe update is anything to go by, it appears Chewie the cat will be coming along for the ride.

Over on Instagram, SLJ revealed one of the Captain Marvel-themed hoodies given out to the film’s cast and crew. Included below, you’ll see that the fabric is emblazoned with the character’s iconic logo – a logo that many viewers ought to recognize after seeing Avengers: Infinity War – along with a nod to S.H.I.E.L.D.

There’s also a yellow-skinned cat, which is surely a reference to Chewie, the little feline companion that was later revealed to be a member of the Flerken, an alien species known for their powers of teleportation. Here’s Jackson’s caption, followed by the image itself:

“Adding this Captain Marvel cast & crew hoodie to the rotation! #thanksbrie&me#errrbodyearnedtheirstripesonthisone#higherfasterstronger”.

Assuming this is actually a reference to Chewie the cat, could it be that Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden plan to incorporate Carol’s fuzzy friend? In the comics, that little cat came into contact with Rocket Raccoon, and wound up sprouting monstrous tendrils from its mouth. So, yeah, maybe not a one-to-one adaptation? We’ll see.

Captain Marvel opens big on March 8th – with or without Chewie the cat.
