The Irishman is a project that has been in the works for a while. Now though, it is starting to pick up steam. Martin Scorsese, who will be getting behind the camera for the project, thinks that the film could start shooting as early as next year. The film will also see Robert De Niro reunite with Goodfellas co-star Joe Pesci. Last time De Niro, Scorsese and Pesci came together to make a movie we got Goodfellas and Casino, so if those are any indication of what these three can do together, you know The Irishman is going to be one hell of a film.Scorsese recently spoke about the film and said that financing was being put together and it could shoot as early as next year. According to The Playlist, the story is about “Frank Sheeran, a WWII veteran who led a colorful life as a high ranking officer in the International Brotherhood of Teamsters while also dabbling in organized crime as a highly-sought-after hitman. He reportedly also had ties to the deaths of President Kennedy and Jimmy Hoffa.”
Sounds interesting, but for now, Scorsese has to focus on Hugo Cabret. Hopefully he is right though and The Irishman will go in front of the camera next year. This project has a lot of potential and I’m very interested to see how it turns out.
We’ll keep you updated.
