‘Scream VI’ star has a fascinating idea for where the next chapter could take place

First California, then New York City; where could Ghostface strike next?

With Scream VI having made its digital debut on the international stage just a week ago, the second plight of the Carpenter sisters is once again taking root in the minds of horror fans everywhere, some of them for the first time. With the latest chapter being one of the best entries in the whole franchise, there are few finer treats to be had right now.

Trading in the sunny hunting ground of California for the debauched maze that is New York City, the creative team had quite the playground on their hands; the unique architecture of the Big Apple allowed for some wildly inventive set pieces, and in turn made for one of the most unique Scream films out there.

And one member of the Core Four thinks Scream 7 can go even further in that department. In an interview with Movieweb, Jasmin Savoy Brown – the talent behind walking exposition machine Mindy Meeks-Martin – offered up a pitch for that involved whisking Ghostface and company to a tropical island.

“I would love to see Ghostface on an island. Maybe Hawaii or at a resort somewhere tropical. You know, for the first bit of the movie, we’re just relaxing and drinking in the pool. It would be a White Lotus and Scream crossover. That would be fun. I should pitch that. I’m going to make some calls.”

Putting aside the fact that Ghostface murdering someone with a coconut is a long-overdue scene in our lives, the idyllic nature of an island resort would help twist the horror knife in spectacularly; not only would the isolated nature of an island make the killer’s presence all the more intimidating, but throwing a serial killer into a place normally associated with a peaceful vacation is a surefire way to disrupt one’s sense of security.
