Last seen housed up in Wakanda, where our one-armed Winter Soldier had agreed to be put under cryogenic sleep, it’s been confirmed that Sebastian Stan’s glowering Bucky Barnes will make an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War, the 2018 sequel hailing from Joe and Anthony Russo.
That’s according to The Hollywood Reporter, after the outlet confirmed Stan has agreed terms to headline upcoming thriller We Have Always Lived in the Castle. Stacie Passon is the director at the helm, with shooting expected to get underway in Dublin, Ireland later this month.
It was here that THR confirmed that Stan, who recently completed work on I’m Not Here with Maika Monroe and Justice League‘s J.K. Simmons, will be part of Marvel’s star-studded roster that will, ahem, assemble early next year when production on Infinity War is set to get underway.
No word yet on the amount of screentime we can expect from Sebastian Stan, but considering that his Winter Soldier very much anchored Civil War – teeing up a fairly compelling arc with Cap – it’s all but certain that directors Joe and Anthony Russo will shift attention to Thanos.
Dropping plans to roll out the two-part blockbuster as Avengers: Infinity War – Part I and Avengers: Infinity War – Part II, we understand that the superhero sequel landing on May 4, 2018 will simply be titled Avengers: Infinity War, with the closing chapter (May 3, 2019) to come bearing a slightly different, as-yet-unannounced title.
