A Marvel Cinematic Universe star, Oscar winner, and all-around gift to all of us is joining the cast of the third installment in the story of everyone’s favorite cuddly character in a highly anticipated upcoming threequel.
Is there anything better than a sweet bear in a blue jacket and a red bucket hat? We think not, but news that broke today did sweeten the pot a little, some pun intended. Paddington in Peru is set to start production next month, and its already star-powered ensemble has added Olivia Colman, so you know things are going to be fantastic.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Colman will breathe life into a character for Paddington 3, which would have her leading the charge alongside the already-confirmed Jim Broadbent, Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters, Samuel Joslin, and Madeleine Harris. In addition to Colman, Emily Mortimer, Antonio Banderas, and Rachel Zegler are also said to be set to play roles in the latest adventure.
Fans of the franchise will be happy to learn that Ben Whishaw and Imelda Staunton are also returning to the story to voice Paddington and Aunt Lucy, so we’ll be hearing our favorite familiar voices as two of the most iconic characters in pop culture history.
We all grew up reading Paddington books, so the films have taken a group of excited readers and turned us into audience members when the bear hits the big screen — and we’ll find ourselves sitting in theaters for as many films as we can get.
Here’s to another world-traveling expedition with the cutest bear we know — we can’t wait for it to begin.
