Shots are fired as Marvel fans out the MCU stars they think are fake comic book readers

A fan casts doubt over whether some of the stars in Marvel movies have ever actually read the comic books.

Not everyone is convinced that all the stars who play heroes and villains in MCU movies actually read the comic books.

An MCU fan altered a photo panel featuring some of the biggest stars in the MCU and divided them into groups of those who they believe genuinely read Marvel Comics and those who, well, don’t. Charlie Cox, Anson Mount, Henry Cavill, Jon Bernthal, Chadwick Boseman, and Andrew Garfield all made the grade. However, the fan was unconvinced that Jonathan Majors, Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Brie Larson, and Chris Hemsworth read the source material, as it were.

Another fan pointed out that Majors is known to read comic books, prompting a swift apology from OP, who added that it was not necessarily problematic for the actors not to read the comic book material.

Another fan came to Majors’ defense and pointed out that Brie Larson is an avid comic book reader, having followed Wonder Woman during childhood.

Fans seemed to be forming a protective circle around Majors, and some requested the removal of Chris Evans from the list.

Some found including Robert Downey Jr. on the list to be ludicrous, considering that star has gone on record to describe what comic books meant to him as a teenager.

Yet another fan argued that it made little difference whether the actors read the comic books. What matters, in their view, is how well they played their roles.

In other words, assumptions often lead to incorrect conclusions. Who’d have thought?
